Comparing the Blues

Blue nail polishes are a huge love of mine. If you’ll peek into my stash, you’ll see that I have few similar shades, but they are not complete dupes. For a non-polish obsessed person those are probably too similar, but for me, who loves nail polishes to the sky and back, they are all special. I checked my stash to see if I have any dupes for P2 Crazy Beauty and guess what? I found one similar shade, but no dupes.

I compared Essie Avenue Maintain, P2 Crazy Beauty, Catrice It’s All I Can Blue and Essence Via Airmail. The most different from P2 are Essie, which is more a dusty blue, and Essence, which is much darker from all other three shades, actually. The closest to P2 is Catrice shade, but then again they are not dupes, because Catrice is slightly brighter than P2. All of them have good creamy formula, which is easy to apply. Another thing I have to mention is that none of the polishes except of P2 is still available. Essie was a part of last year’s spring collection Madison Ave-hue, Essence was part of Ready for Boarding summer collection two years ago and Catrice already discontinued It’s All I Can Blue.

I personally like all four polishes a lot and as I said in my post about P2 Crazy Beauty, this polish is quite unique and I would recommend you all to get it. What about you? Do you like blue polishes? Which one is your favourite? Thank you for reading!

Review and Swatches: MeMeMe Goddess Eyes

MeMeMe is an UK cosmetics brand that is also available in Slovenia at Moja drogerija. Some time ago I received an Eye Inspired Baked Eyeshadow quarto palette Goddess Eyesand a Flawless Finish Cream foundation Beige Blush from MeMeMe for review purposes. Without expecting much from them both products turned to be quite good; with the exception that foundation is way too dark for me. The review of foundation will be posted another day, today I want to talk about eyeshadow palette, which quickly became one of my most used and favourite palettes in the past month and a half.

MeMeMe trio and quatro palettes are packed in a round plastic black matte packaging with a transparent lid, which can be convenient because that way you can see the shades that are in the palette. What actually bothers me by this packaging is that eyeshadows aren’t separated. For people who like to mix different eyeshadows this can be a good thing, but I’d prefer if each eyeshadow would be in its own pan.

Goddess Eyes contains four eyeshadows in vanilla, dark brown, golden-brown and golden shades. All eyeshadows are shimmery and great pigmented. These are baked eyeshadows, which means that they can be used dry or wet, but I prefer using them dry since they have very good colour payoff. They do fall out when I apply them on lids, but because a lot of eyeshadows I use tend to fall out, I’m so used to it that I don’t have a problem with that anymore. I just use a makeup wipe to remove everything that felt on my cheeks.

Eyeshadows blend very well and luckily the shades are different enough that they don’t look the same once I blend them on my lids (I had that experience with trio palette Sultry eyes). My favourite eyeshadows from this palette are vanilla and golden-brown shades, which I like to use in inner corner of my eyes and on lids, because they open up my eye look and make my small eyes look bigger. I didn’t have any problems with creasing and they lasted a whole day with minimal fading away.

Goddess Eyes is available at MeMeMe for £6.50 and Moja drogerija for 9,84 €. The palette contains 4 g of product. I'm very satisfied with it, since all eyeshadows have great colour payoff and last a whole day on my lids. I also like the combination of the shades, which makes a palette Goddess Eyes perfect for everyday use. Because the packaging is very small you can also wear it with you when traveling. If you have big collection of different mono eyeshadows and eyeshadow palettes, you probably don’t need it, because it’s possible you already have similar shades, except if you’re a collector, then go for it because you won’t regret a purchase. But if you’re only starting with makeup I think it’s going to be a perfect palette for you. I personally think it’s a nice addition to my collection and I’ll happily use it on my eyes in the future as well.

Have you tried Mememe eyeshadows? What do you think of this palette? Thank you for reading!

Monthly Favourites of November

I already bragged about this polish in my review post. It's really a gorgeous shade with an amazing formula and a brush. It also says a lot that I've been wearing it nonstop for a last week and a half. When it chipped I just removed and reapplied it. For a person who gets bored of a shade after a day already, not only two days, that really says a lot. Slovenian girls can get P2 brand at Moja drogerija.

Greenland Fruit Emotions hand cream lime-vanilla
I didn't expect much from this cream, but it stole my heart immediately. It's very light, but also nourishing; it sinks into the skin fast, moisturizes it and makes it soft. I also thought that the combination of lime and vanilla won't smell nice to me, but it actually does, a lot. It's such a fresh scent. You can get it here and here.

A palette with four golden/brown shimmery shades is a perfect palette for me to wear every day, because I prefer shimmery than matte shades. These are great pigmented and I have a feeling that they make my eyes bigger (it probably has something to do with the fact that I like to apply the lightest shade in the inner corner of my eye). These eyeshadows have been on my eyes a lot lately. I just reviewed it yesterday, so click here to read what I had to say about it.

Catrice lipstick Mauve Your Lips
When I first swatched this shade it didn't blew me away. I actually expected I won't like it at all on me, but it convinced it’s a perfect shade for me after first application already. It's a mauve shade with a purple/pink undertone and it's a perfect nude shade to combine it with every single look. I noticed that I reach for it a lot and I already showed you few looks where I'm wearing it. The pigmentation is nice, it also has a good formula and although the duration time isn't the strongest, I can forgive it that, because it's a nude shade after all and I can expect from it to last for hours and hours.

Catrice blush Mandy-rine
Defining blushes are one of the best products from Catrice, if you ask me. Mandy-rine is a new shade from fall/winter assortment change and it’s a gorgeous peachy shade. I was always bigger fan of pink or coral shades, so I couldn’t believe that I felt in love with this blush so quickly. I think it gives my face such a fresh and natural look. The pigmentation is amazing and it lasts for hours on my skin. Since is matte I like to combine it with different highlighters to give my skin a healthy glow. You can see how it looks on me here.

Zoeva 102 Silk Finish brush
Although I do love Real Technique Expert Face brush a lot, I always hoped that there exists even a better brush which would enable me even quicker and easier application. And it does – Zoeva 102 Silk Finish. While RT can leave brush strokes on my face and I need to pay more attention to a nicer application of a liquid foundation, the story with 102 is totally different. It doesn’t leave any brush strokes, it blends foundation into the skin perfectly and much quicker than RT. Bristles are very soft and friendly to the skin. I felt in love with this brush immediately and I had to mention it in this month’s favourites.

Born Pretty Store plate 03
I won a giveaway on Born Pretty Store and for the prize I chose their new plate 03. Since I got it I created many manicures with it, because it has so many lovely designs. I can’t even decide which one is my favourite because they enable so many different combinations. Of course, if you want to see manicures I created with it, check out my Instagram account (but not all are published).

Tutorial: Impress Manicure

Today I have something different for you. It's a tutorial for Impress Manicure. I personally I'm not a fan of fake nails, so this was a very interesting experience for me.

What is Impress Manicure? Impress Manicure are actually fake nails that enable easy and quick manicure. You need zero drying time and no additional glue. They should last a week on your nails. Impress fake nails come in a transparent packaging in a shape of a nail polish bottle. You get 24 nails of different sizes and first you have to choose sizes that will fit your nails. If none of the fake nails fits your nails, take the bigger one, because if you're going to use smaller your nail will be visible underneath.

Before you start applying fake nails, you have to use the prep-pad that you receive in the packaging. It will clean all the oils from your nails and it'll enable longer wear of fake nails. Then you take first fake nail, remove transparent plastic from the glue and glue it on your nail. You just place it on your nail and press on each side to make sure that the glue will stick the nail nicely. I recommend you to start with the pinkie and finish with the thumb, because thumb will be a helper by removing plastic from each fake nail and the plastic is easier to remove with your own nails than fake ones. Repeat this last step on each nail and then you're done.

Pros:
- easy to apply
- no drying time
- easy to remove
- big choice of different patterns
- they should last around a week

Cons:
- I received nails with "medium lenght" label on, but they are soo long. I had long nails when I was shooting this tutorial and fake nails were about a half cm longer. This length is for you, if you adore very long nails, but otherwise I'd recommend smaller size.
- These are not very cheap. The price is around 14 € and you can do 2 manicures with them. I'd say these are good for special occasion, but not to wear them all the time.
- They can damage the surface of a nail when you're removing them. It's true they are very easy to remove, but the glue is very strong.

I didn't wear them for a week, because I didn't feel very comfortable wearing them, but that's probably also because I'm not use to wearing fake nails. I'd say these nails are great for girls that don't have time to do their nails and for special occasions. You can read Slovenian version of tutorial here and get them in DashBox store or in Müller for 13,99€.

New In (November 2014)

It's like I'm still in October, I constantly write October favourites, October new in. Geez, Tatjana, it's the end of November, in two days the most festive month of the year will began - December. Are you excited for December as I am? I'm doing Blogmas, Christmas challenge, I'm going on a Christmas trip in Graz ... It's going to be fun. But I won't bore you anymore, let's see what I got during November.

First are some random stuff, I guess. I bought Ebelin makeup wipes, which are very useful while swatching or doing makeup. Then I bought some products from Afrodita: Jojoba Oil shower gel (which I love), Micellar Solution (it's good) and a tonic, which was recommended by many bloggers and now I see why, it's really good. I have the one for dry skin and it really helps moisturizing the skin.
Do you ever buy a product because of a cute packaging? I do. That's why I bought La Habana shower gel, because it has a gorgeous vintage packaging. :)

It happens so many times to me that I buy a new lip balm and after few usages I lose it somewhere. So I purchased two extra lip balms to have them on my desk near computer. I got Maybelline Electro Baby Lips Pink Shock and Strike a Rose. I heard that these are better than "regular" Maybelline Baby Lips, but I wouldn't agree. I personally find them less moisturizing, but they definitely have better pigmentation. Because girl can never have enough brushes I got two more Essence Eye Blender brushes. Blending is very important, you know. :) From Born Pretty Store I received plate 03 as a giveaway prize and I loved it so much, that I presented it as a part of my November favourites.

This month I received two P2 products from Moja drogerija for testing: nail polish Crazy Beauty and Glow Up! highlighter High Beam. We also got a chance to buy Zoeva brushes with a discount and I decided for Concealer Buffer and Silk Finish. I love both brushes a lot. Now I definitely see why Zoeva brushes are so praised, the quality of their brushes is really high. Of course you can expect a review soon.

Mercator had 1+1 offer on Palmolive products and I decided to get 4 shower gels Mild&Sensitive, Delicate Care, Calming Pleasure and Nourishing Delight. I decided to give three to my mum and keep one for myself, but she didn't want all three, so I kept for myself first two.

I received Impress Manicure to do a tutorial for it. After my first DashBox review the team that creates it contacted me and we exchanged few emails. The team was so nice to me, although my review wasn't positive at all, and they asked me to do nail tutorial for them. Because they were so nice to me and they excepted my review so good, I decided to say yes and do a tutorial for them. Not everyone excepts a bad review of a product so good, some brands can be actually pretty rude, but let's not talk about this now.

MoYou London brand has such amazing stamping plates, that I had to order two plates immediately as I got MasterCard. I decided for Pro 04 and Festive 06. I felt in love with Festive plate immediately and I already started to create Christmas inspired manicures. I post them on Instagram and Facebook, but don't worry, you're going to see them few here on blog, too. I don't have in mind posting a review about these plates, but if you're interested, let me know and I'll do it for you. :)

On Twitter I won Aida's (Lippie Hippie) giveaway and the prize was La Roche-Posay Hydreane Legere face cream, which has very positive reviews among beauty bloggers, so I was so happy when I saw I'll have a chance to try it myself. I just started to use it, but I'll definitely let you know what I think about it.

Today the postman visited me and brought me this gorgeous package from Click2Chic. I received handmade soup Santa Baby from Bomb Cosmetics, which smells divine. In the package there were also two polishes Models Own Carat Coral and Models Own Copacabana. Expect reviews as a part of my Blogmas next month.

I'm going to smell nice. :) I was at Tuš drugstore and I couldn't resist, I had to buy three I Love... shower gels. I got Raspberry Vanilla, Choca Mocha lala and Minty Choco Chip. They smell sooooo nice, especially the last one. I can see why bloggers love them (did you count how many times did I write this/similar sentence today? :D)

And for the end few purchases from yesterday. In Müller I got few new pretty nail polishes: Essence I Heart My Blue Jeans, Essence Never Stop Dreaming, Catrice ARTful Red from Viennart LE and Essence BTGN fast drying top coat. I also put two Afroditamasks in my shopping basket. Both should moisturize the skin, so I'm very curious to try them. I probably won't review them, but you're definitely going to read about them on my blog, probably in one of Empties post.

Uf, that was a long list of purchases. What did you get in November? Also, let me know if you're interested in a review of any of the products. Thank you for reading!

Blogmas 2014: Day 1 of Christmas Challenge - Let it Snow

Hello, ladies (and gentlemen, if any is reading this). I'm so excited to start with Blogmas and Christmas challenge today. Christmas challenge will be part of my Blogmas, but sometimes I'll also post two posts a day, so I hope you won't mind that. The first theme of my challenge is Let it Snow. As I hear it's already snowing in some parts of Slovenia, but not here, here's just raining. But I don't like snow anyway, except on nails. :)
For the first theme I decided to do both, makeup and nails. I couldn't wait to show you what I did, because I really liked both creations. :)

Makeup

White and blue are the colors I think of when it comes to re-creating "snow" on eyes or nails. Using only matte eyeshadows is a coincidence, but I love how blue matte eyeshadows look on me. Because I wanted a bit deeper look I combined blue and white with black eyeshadow in crease and outer V. At the beginning I took photos of a look without false lashes and later I applied them to see how the look will look with them. They actually make quite a difference, but I personally prefer the look without false lashes.

For the cheeks and lips I went with quite nude shades. On my cheeks I applied my favourite blush Catrice Mandy-rine, which is a peachy shade and it looks so natural once applied on the skin. For the lips I went with nude combo, Aura lipliner 36 and Essence lipstick Natural Beauty.

Products I used:
*Face
- Catrice Nude Illusion Nude Ivory foundation
- Catrice Velvet Finish Velvet Ivory concealer
- Catrice Color Correcting mattifying powder Delicate Blossom
- Sleek Face Form Fair (bronzer)
- L'Oreal Lumi Magique primer
- Catrice Mandy-rine

*Eyes
- Essence I Love Stage eyeshadow base
- NYX Milk jumbo pencil
- Catrice Absolute Matt palette
- Sleek Curacao palette (black)
- Miyo 34 Iris eyeshadow
- NYX Space Pearl pigment
- Sleek Ultra matts V2 (Ink)
- Essence Liquid Ink Matt eyeliner
- Miyo Big Fat Smoky Lashes mascara
- Essence Lash Princess mascara
- Born Pretty Store false lashes
- Essence How to Make Brows Wow palette (for brows)

*Lips
- Aura lipliner 36
- Essence Natural Beauty lipstick

Nails

I wanted to do a free-hand nail art for this theme, but when I received MoYou Festive 06plate I knew I'm going to use it. I started with Essence Wild White Ways and then I did gradient on a tip of each nail with P2 Crazy Beauty. For special effect I layered each nail with Essence Icy Fairy. Snowflakes are stamped with Essence I Heart MY Blue Jeans and are from MoYou plate.

Tell me, what do you think about my makeup and nails? Thank you for reading!

Blogmas 2014: Would You Love Some Catrice Lippies

$

I played with title a bit. J It was inspired by the name of a lipstick I’m going to review today, if you were wondering why such a strange title.

Catrice launched Ultimate Stay lipsticks and lipliners this fall and since I adore their lip products I had to try few of them. For the beginning I decided to buy lipstick Plum&Base and lipliner Love the Way You Plum, because they seemed like a great fall/winter lip combo. Then I got two more lipsticks on Essence event, both more neutral shades, and decided to wait with the review until I don’t try all four products and then review them all together. Lipsticks I got on event are called Wood You Love Me and Mauve Your Lips.

Perfect Fall/Winter Combo
Plum is definitely a perfect lip shade for fall and winter. I felt in love with Plum&Base shade immediately when I swatched it in the store. Because I wanted to buy only one lipstick for the beginning to see if I’m going to like the formula and everything else, this shade was definitely a first choice. And because Love the Way You Plum looks like a perfect match to this lipstick, I bought it too.

Plum&Baselipstick has a very nice, creamy formula that goes on lips smoothly and evenly. The pigmentation is very nice; lipstick covers the lips completely in one layer. Ultimate Stay lipsticks should have matte finish, but I disagree with that, because they look a bit shiny on the lips. It doesn’t feel specially moisturizing or dry on the lips and it doesn’t emphasize dry parts. I also noticed that it doesn’t last that long on the lips, around three hours, it depends how much I drink meantime. Of course it doesn’t survive a meal, because it doesn’t leave any stain. It simply fades away completely after some time.

Love the Way You Plum is a matte lip pencil that is actually very fragile. I have to be very careful while applying it, because it brakes like in a second after I touch my lips with it. It has a twist up mechanism and I usually twist it up only a tiny bit, because that way it works easier. I think I only have like a third of lipliner left, because it took me time before I learned how to work with it. It has a matte finish and it tends to dry my lips and emphasize dry parts. I never use it alone, it's too drying and it can be sticky; I usually wear it over Plum&Base which makes sure my lips don’t feel dry anymore (which is funny since it’s not very moisturizing on its own). Sometimes I also apply a lipgloss over it, which makes this lip combo shine as a star (you can check it here, you all loved it :D). A bit disappointing can be also the fact that it takes time to apply it evenly (all my mistakes are especially visible on photo. Camera always highlights everything you don’t notice in person.). I also wanted to mention that it looks a bit more "red" on me, which is interesting, because if you're going to check Mateja's swatch you'll see it look more purple on her.

Catrice Love the Way You Plum lipliner

Catrice Plum&Base lipstick

Loving the Nudes
On the Cosnova event I got two more Ultimate Stay lipsticks. I choose Wood You Love Memyself, because winter is coming and that means darker, bolder eye looks, for which nude lipsticks are always welcome. Mauve You Lips was given to us by Cosnova team. Telling the truth I was swatching this shade at the event and thought that this shade wouldn’t look good on me because of its undertone, but surprisingly this is now one of my favourite shades.

Wood You Love Me is a nude shade with strong brown undertone and the same it looks on lips. Maybe it looks a bit too brownish for my liking. I usually apply one of Catrice lip smoothers over it to cool down the shade and make it more wearable. Mauve Your Lips is a mauve shade as the name says. By the swatch I’d never tell I’m going to love it so much on myself. These two have the same formula and finish as Plum&Base. They feel comfortable on lips and I often reach for them. As many nudes shade these are also not very long lasting. They last around an hour and a half on my lips and don’t survive eating. I also wanted to mention that all Catrice lipsticks transfer on a glass or cup when you drink.

Catrice Wood You Love Me lipstick

Catrice Mauve Your Lips lipstick

Ultimate stay lipsticks contain 3 g and cost 5,19€. Ultimate stay lipliners contain 0,3 g and cost 2,49€. Although I can’t say I’m a huge fan of lipliner because of its fragile nature, I do like lipsticks a lot. It can happen that in the future I'll add few more lipsticks to my collection.

Have you tried Catrice Ultimate Stay lipsticks and lipliners? What do you think about them? Thank you for reading!

Blogmas 2014: Comparison of White Nail Polishes

$

It's hard to find a good white nail polish with cream finish that would be opaque in two coats. Usually they have too watery formula, are sheer and require three coats, apply streaky or even contain tiny shimmer in it. Today I'm going to talk about four white nail polishes, that are, surprisingly, all quite good.
I’m actually not even sure why I decided to post this comparison, because you can’t really notice the difference between white polishes on photos, but formulas definitely aren’t the same and polishes do differ.

Essie Blanc– this one has great creamy formula, that applies evenly and it covers the nail completely in two coats. When it dries it looks glossy on nails. It contains 10 ml and it costs 9,95 €. In Slovenia is available at DM.

Catrice On the Top of the Alps– this is a white polish that contains tiny shimmer, which isn’t really visible on nails. It applies streaky, so it needs at least two or three coats to look even. I usually apply two coats, first thin and second thicker. Although it can still look streaky after second coat, I always do a nail art over it and then apply a top coat, which covers all imperfections. It dries semi matte. It contains 10 ml and it costs 2,69 €. It’s available at Müller. I’m not sure if you can also get it at DM, because I never check Catrice stand there.

Essence Wild White Ways– this Essence white polish is very similar to Catrice one. It also dries semi-matte, it needs at least two coats to be opaque, but I have a feeling that it applies less streaky and, of course, it doesn’t contain any shimmer. The bottle contains 8 ml and it’s available at Müller for 1,69 €.

S-he Stylezone 115– this one has a bit more watery formula than other three, but still thick enough that it can cover the nail in two coats. Okay, have in mind that I usually apply thicker coats; I never go with very thin ones. You can get this polish at DM for 2,50 € (10 ml). But the last time I found it in section, where they have products that won’t be available anymore, so I think it’s discontinued.

Essence and Catrice polishes are marked as “colour intensifying base coats”, which means that they should be applied as base coats for coloured nail polishes. That makes me think that someone out there must be a bit crazy. If you apply a regular base coat, then two or three coats of a white nail polish, after that two coats of coloured polish and you finish with a top coat, that means 6 or 7 coats. Are you f* kidding me? Why would anyone want to apply a white polish under a regular coloured nail polish, if that one is already enough opaque on its own? If you want to achieve a good intensity of a coloured polish, white base must be strong, so two coats are minimal. If coloured nail polish isn’t thick enough and opaque in one coat, the application will look uneven with one coat over a white base, so that definitely means at least four coats and that’s just too much for one simple manicure.  I definitely find white polishes as a great base for neon shades, because they made them pop out, but that’s it. Girls, if you’re going to buy Catrice or Essence white polish, use it as a regular polish, because otherwise you’ll have too much coats on and your manicure will chip faster.

First photo: left are 2 coats of Catrice On the Top of the Alps and on right 2 coats of Essence Wild White Ways.
Second photo: I applied one coats of Bourjois Amande Defile over each polish.
Third photo: I applied two coats of Bourjois Amande Defile over each polish. This means I'm wearing four coats on my nails without base coat and top coat and since this shade is very sheer it doesn't look completely opaque yet.
On many blogs you can read that Essie Blanc is favourite white polish of many bloggers, and I love it a lot as well, but for a person like me, who uses a white polish a lot and finishes two or three bottles of it in a year, Essie isn't a good investment. That means that I'd spend around 30 € a year for a white polish. No go. But I'd say Essie is a good decision for those who wear white polish very rarely, because it’ll last you for a long time. For me the best choices are cheap white polishes and now I actually have quite a nice selection; at least until Essence or Catrice don’t decide todiscontinue those polishes. I especially find Essence very good and I think this one will become my first choice while buying a white polish.

Do you like white nail polishes? Which one is your favourite? Thank you for reading!

Blogmas 2014: Day 2 of Christmas Challenge - Christmas Character

Hello, ladies. The second theme of Christmas challenge is Christmas character and for this theme I chose penguin. First I thought I'll do only nails, but I tried a makeup look as well and it didn't turn out so bad, so I'm posting it as well.

Makeup
Eye makeup is very simple, only black and white, since those two colors are colors of a penguin. I used NYX Milk jumbo pencil all over the lid and over it I applied white matte eyeshadow from Catrice Absolute Matt palette. In crease I used black matte eyeshadow Espresso Martini from Sleek Curacao palette. I also applied it on lower lash line. Because I still felt like there's missing something I added a white shimmery Essence pigment all over the lid and champagne shimmery shade Martini from Sleek Curacao palette in inner part of my eye. Because it's Christmas time I combined the eye look with red lips, for which I used Look by Bipa Cherry lipliner and Bourjouis Frambourjoise lipstick.

Products I used:
*Face
- Yves Rocher Radiant Youth 100 Beige
- Essence Stay All Day Natural Beige concealer
- Maybelline Instant Anti-age Eraser concealer Fair
- Artistry Exact Fir Bisque powder
- Sleek Face Form Fair (bronzer, Rose Gold blush)
- P2 High Beam highlighter

*Eyes
- Essence I Love Stage eyeshadow base
- NYX Milk
- Catrice Absolute Matt palette
- Sleek Curacao palette (Martini, Espresso Martini)
- Essence pigment Fairy Dust
- Catrice Made to Stay Inside Eye highlighter pen
- Essence Liquid Ink Matt eyeliner
- Miyo Big Fat Smoky Lashes mascara
- Essence Lash Princess mascara
- Essence How to Make Brows Wow palette (for brows)

*Lips
- Look by Bipa Cherry
- Bourjois Frambourjois

Nails

Nails are the ones I adore here. I draw two cute little penguins on ring and middle finger. On other nails I combined red and silver shades. Polishes I used are Catrice ARTful Red, Essie Toggle to the Top, Catrice It's Showtime, Essence Black is Back, Essence Wild White Ways, Essence Yeah, Copacabana, Essence Iced Eyes Baby.

What do you think of my makeup and nail art, inspired by penguin? Thank you for reading!

Blogmas 2014: Catrice Viennart ARTful Red

Catricelimited edition collection Viennart hit our stores last week. There were some interesting products, and although I felt like I don't need anything special, there was one polish that caught my eye and I decided to try it. I’m talking about ARTful Red nail polish.

I’m not even sure if I should talk about the brush of this polish, because is a crappy one, as most of Catrice brushes from regular line are. Bristles are not equally cut and that kind of a brush enables easy application, especially on short nails. You just can’t apply it nicely near cuticle and often it ends up on it. But otherwise the ARTful Red is a gorgeous shade. It’s a burgundy red shade and it contains a lot of golden shimmer, which is nicely visible on nails. It has a bit thicker formula, so its pigmentation is very good, but it still needs two coats to look even on nails. The drying time is average, but fast drying top coat is a must for someone who’s in a hurry. I love the shade, it’s a perfect for this festive season we’re currently in, so don’t be surprised if you’re going to see me using it many times by different nail art manicures. On my nails it lasted around two days, like most of other polishes, and it also isn’t the hardest polish to remove. The polish contains 10 ml and I pay 2,79 € for it.

Did you get anything from Catrice Viennart collection? What do you think about this polish? Thank you for reading!

Blogmas 2014: Review and Swatches: Revlon Red Velvet

I often think I'm a blogger that likes products most of other bloggers dislike or I'm not impressed with products most of other bloggers adore. In the family of those products belong Revlon lip butters. They are such hyped products that I expected a lot of them. Well, if you ask me, they are overhyped. It’s true I tried only one shade, but I imagine it’s not so different from other shades. I actually thought Red Velvet will be one of my most worn shades during fall (that’s why I also mentioned it in my fall picks), but I soon stopped wearing it.

Revlon lip butters do have very cute packaging, but not very practical. They come in a plastic colourful packaging with way too long cap. The black base which you hold to open the product is so small that it’s hard to hold it and it’s also very difficult to open the product. When I got it and first tried to open it, I had to go through few attempts before I manage to open it. Although I’m a sucker for a cute packaging, I still find it better if packaging is practical and not only cute.

Red Velvetis a gorgeous darker red shade, perfect for fall/winter season. For a buttery balm this is quite nicely pigmented product. Only a swipe on the lips and it covers them up. But since it’s a darker shade it requires careful application, because it can end up out from the line of the lips quickly. Somewhere I read that these are supposed to be applied without any mirror, but for a Red Velvet one definitely needs a mirror, otherwise it can end up looking like Miranda Sings. :)

Freshly applied it feels very moisturizing on the lips and it doesn’t emphasize dry parts on them. What actually bothers me the most by this shade is the duration time. From a darker shade like this I’d expect that it’ll last at least two hours, but no, frommy lips it completely disappears after one hour. And when I say completely I mean that it doesn’t even leave any stain. Nothing, zero, nada. I went to check few reviews from other bloggers and they are all impressed by this shade. On them it lasts for two hours minimal. And now I wonder, it there something wrong with my lips or what? I guess this product just doesn’t work for me.

I do like the shade on me, it's really a gorgeous color, but I just can't make myself to love this balm.

In Slovenia there are 16 shades available at Click2Chic for 10,89 €. They are also available at few Müller stores (but not in mine in Murska Sobota).  Although I do like the shade and the moisturizing felling on my lips I won’t buy any new shade. I find them way too expensive for what they offer to me. I actually tried similar products from Maybelline, called Whispers, and I like those much better. I have two bright shades Coral Calling and Faint for Fuchsia and both last much longer on my lips than Velvet Red. And the price is also lower for few euros.

What do you think about Revlon lip butters? Did you join the hype or not? Thank you for reading!
*I received this product for review purposes.

Burning candles
I know some people burn candles all year around, but I start in November and end up around Januar/Februar. Burning candles has a huge connection with Christmas to me. My favourite scents are vanilla and a cinnamon/apple scent. I  mostly buy these two scents. There's not better thing than lying in the bed, reading a good book or watching a favourite show and smelling the vanilla or cinnamon in the air. :))

Catrice Lip Smoothers
I can't avoid mentioning beauty products in this blog series, I guess. At the moment I'm really loving Catrice lip smoothers. The fact that these are lipglosses, which can be easy to apply even without a mirror, moisturize my lips and give them a nice shine, just made me fall in love with them.

My new boots
These stole my heart immediately as I saw them in Deichman. I tried them on, liked them, but didn't bought them immediately, which tortured me for so long, that I went back to Deichman and purchased them. I'm wearing them constantly since them. Of course these are not made for long walks, but they are comfortable enough that my feet doesn't hurt after few hours at work.

Yogurt with straccitella taste
I can't tell how much a adore this dessert. It's probably not the healthiest thing to eat, but I can't resist it, it's so good. This is my favourite because of small chocolate pieces in it. ;)

Mandarins
Okay, the second favourite food is more healthy. My most favourite thing about winter are probably mandarins. If there's a thing I could eat a ton of it and never get over it, that are mandarins. Although peeling them isn't the most pleasant thing in the world.

Mamma Mia soundtrack
The other day I watched Mamma Mia movie again and since then I'm listening the soundtrack from the movie every day. Meryl Streep and Amanda Seyfried are such good singers. My favourite songs from soundtrack are: The Name of the Game, Mamma Mia, Does Your Mother Know, Lay All Your Love on Me.

Hello, my dear ladies. Here I am today, one day later as I planned, with another creation for Christmas challenge. This time I only have a nail art for you, because in last few days I simply didn't have time to do a makeup look. The manicure you see today wasn't even planned for the challenge, but I liked it so much and it looked perfect for this theme. The theme is a Christmas sparkle and this manicure definitely is sparkly. :)

Polishes I used are Essence Wild White Ways, Models Own Copacabana, MoYou Festive 06 plate, Vollare 110, Milani Jewel FX Gold, P2 Precious

How do you like this manicure? Thank you for reading!

Blogmas 2014: Neutral Look with Favourite Catrice Products

At Cosnova event we got a lot of Catrice products that I love and I thought I could do a look with them and tell you something about each product. Most of the products will get their separate review if it hasn't be done yet, but today I want to tell you, what I like about them most (or what I don't). But I wasn't using only Catrice products, because there are some products I just can't do a look without, like Essence mascara, Sleek bronzer for contouring and so on.

Let's start with eyes. I was using Catrice Absolute Matt eyeshadow palette, which is perfect palette for people, who are just starting with makeup and those, who wear mostly natural looks. It contains 6 matte eyeshadows that are nicely pigmented, and enable you to do a daily or even a darker evening look. The look I did with this palette is my quick go to neutral daily look.
I started with Essence I Love Stage eyeshadow base and then I applied the beigy shade from Catrice palette all over my lid and on brow bone. On my lids I used warm brown eyeshadow, and the taupe one I used in crease. For outer V I used dark brown shade and I lined my eye with greyish black eyeshadow. For my lower lash line I mixed warm brown and taupe shade. I highlighted my brow bone and inner corner of my eye with white eyeshadow. On waterline I applied Catrice Made to Stay Inside Eye highlighter pen, which didn't really convince me. I have a feeling that it's just too hard and not easy to apply on waterline. On the photo you can't even notice that I'm wearing it. Mascara is my current favourite Essence Lash Princess

On my face I started with Catrice Nude Illusion Nude Velvet, which I already mentioned in my favourites some time ago. I really love the finish it gives to my skin. It has a medium coverage and it evens out my skin tone nicely. I lost a lot of tan lately, so the lightest shade is becoming too dark for me, but I'll mix it with Makeup Revolution white foundation to make it lighter. On my skin it didn't cause any break outs and it doesn't dry it. Concealer that I used for this look is Catrice Velvet Finish Velvet Ivory. This one also has a medium coverage, so it won't cover very dark under eye circles very good, but it has enough coverage for mine. It's creamy and easy to blend into the skin. Some people say that it feels dying on the skin, but I didn't experience that. I actually really like it. To seal everything up I used Catrice Color Correcting mattifying powder Drelicate Blossom. After these few weeks that I'm using it I can say that it doesn’t do everything that it promises, like neutralises redness, at least I didn't notice that on my face, but it's a very good powder. It mattifys the skin and it prolongs the duration of the foundation. It looks quite natural on the skin and not cakey at all.
I contoured my face with Sleek bronzer from Face Form Fair kit. As a blush I used my currently favourite Catrice Mandy-rine, which gives such a nice color to the cheeks. I love their Define Blushes, they are matt, much pigmented, long lasting and Mandy-rine is not any exception. I highlighted my face with P2 High Beam, because I was testing it for a review that is coming up on this blog soon, and I took every opportunity to use it on my face.
Lipstick that I used is another favourite product from Catrice - Mauve Your Lips. I reviewed it recently on my blog. I didn't believe that this lipstick will look so good on me and that I will love it so much, until I didn't try it on. Its formula is very creamy, not drying and good pigmented for a nude shade.

Here's a photo of all products I used for this look.

Blogmas 2014: Review and swatches of P2 Glow Up! Eyes and Cheeks Highlighter High Beam

If you'd ask me few years ago if I use highlighters I'd probably stare at you like a crazy person, because I wouldn’t have any idea what that is. How much things change since then; now I’m completely obsessed with them and I barely do any makeup without highlighting my face or eyes. Anja from Moja drogerija gave us a chance to try any Glow Up! highlighter from P2 and I choose High Beam. Beside High Beam there are two more shades available, High Shine and High Gleam.

The packaging is nothing special, it actually looks pretty cheap. It’s a round plastic transparent packaging that contains 3 g of product. It’s quite small, so it’s great for traveling and despite its cheap look it’s quite sturdy.

I took shade High Beam because it looked like a gentle golden highlighter on photos. It definitely is a gorgeous shade, but also quite interesting, because it’s not just gold, it has a pink sheen in it as well - it’s a pinkish-golden highlighter. It’s powdery and very silky to the touch. When I swatch it with my fingers the highlighter has very good pigmentation, but it applies more sheer on the face. The great thing about products that are sheerer is that they are buildable and that you can’t apply them too much. This highlighter builds up nicely and it gives a gorgeous sheen to the cheeks. It contains tiny shimmer which looks so nice and not overwhelming at all. It blends really nicely to the skin and it gives it, I’d say, pretty natural look. Highlighters usually last a whole day on my face and the story is the same with this one as well. It also works great as a highlighter on brow bone and inner corner of the eye.

From my swatch on my hand you can see what I was talking about before. It's not completely gold and not completely pink highlighter, it contains shimmer in both colors and both are reflecting on my swatch.

And this is how it looks on me. I used it as highlighter on my brow bone and on cheekbone. I really love this product; I’m wearing it constantly lately. It gives my skin such a gorgeous natural sheen and it’s impossible to look like a disco ball with it, because its shimmer isn’t too big.

You can get three shades of P2 Glow Up! eyes and cheeks highlighter at Moja drogerija for 4,49 €. I would recommend you this shade, if you want to achieve natural shine on the face or if you’re a highlighter lover. Although it contains 3 g, it will last you very long, because you don’t need much product for one look.

What do you think about this highlighter? Thank you for reading!

Blogmas 2014: Christmas Trip to Graz and a Graz Haul

What I really love about December are Christmas trips. My boy and I decide to go visit one each year. Last year we went to Salzburg, well, this year we decided to go nearer, in Graz. I adore Graz, to me it's the most beautiful city and I definitely see myself living there. The second thing that made me very happy about the trip is shopping. In the center of Graz are many stores that sell products that are not available by us and it feels amazing looking and swatching all the testers of the products. Although the shopping in December isn't the most nice, because the stores are small and crowdy, so I didn't have time to check everything I wanted.

The first place we visited is Zotter, a chocolate store and a factory. They have such a huge selection of different tastes of chocolate and the ones that I tried were very good.

Then we went in Gnas, on a family farm where they sell Christmas decorations and wreaths.

Next stop was a church Mariatrost

And finally we arrived in Graz. We had a little tour around the center and then we had a free time. Unfortunatelly it started to rain cats and dogs in the evening, but the trip was still very pretty.

And now let's go to the haul part. In H&M I bought a set of 6 nail polishes and few rings. I bought the set because of a second polish in it. It's a gorgeous glittery polish. Four of the polishes are a part of my December giveaway, so if you want to win them, click here

Since we only have Yves Rocher in Ljubljana and I don't go much there (I love physical stores when it comes to smelly stuff, because I have to sniff at product before buying it) I decided to go to the store in Graz. I bough few of their shower gels, because I really adore them. I got Cocoa&Orange, Magnolia Flower and Coffee Beans scents. I'm not a huge fan of coffee, but I love its scent, so I had to get this shower gel. And the Cacao&Orange gel smells literally like dark chocolate with orange flavour, amazing.

I also went to The Body Shop, but there were so many people in there that I barely had a place to check everything. But I did smell vanilla scented products and I loved them so much that I wanted to get some. They had gift packages, so I took two that contained a shower gel, a soap, a hand cream and a body butter.

I can't believe that our DM doesn't have all Ebelin makeup tools. I took the chance to peek into an Austrian one and bought a makeup sponge, a blending brush and a curler.

I visited three more stores. In Lush I bought Santa's lip scrub, because I really wanted to try it. In Flormar my darling got me a glittery nail polish, which is also amazing, and in Mac I got a lipstick that was on my WL for a very long time, a Lady Danger. It's so exciting to finally own a Mac product. :)

Did you go on any Christmas trip this year? What do you think about my haul? Thank you for reading!

Blogmas 2014: Day 4 of Christmas Challenge - Christmas Colors

The fourth theme of Christmas challenge is Christmas colors. I decided for gold first, but in the end I used all three colors that remind me on Christmas - gold, red and green.

The original idea was to do a golden eye look in a combination with some purple, but I had to add a bit of green under my eyes for more Christmasy effect. And of course golden and green shades are shimmery, because Christmas is all about sparkle. :) I'm really loving this look and I got many compliments from people when I wore it. Under next photo check out what I used for eyes, lips and face. :)

Blogmas 2014: Chic Things for Smart Girls

There's a new beauty box in town. Online store Click2chic decided to create their own beauty box and they call it Chic things for smart girls. I wasn't really sure if I should order it or not, because I didn't know what to expect, but when they started to reveal products they put in the box I placed my order and I'm really happy that I did. I received it yesterday, so this won't be a review, but I want to share my first impression about the box and present you all products in it.

The box is from cardboard and it's quite big, I'd say it's in the size of A4 paper. You get 7 products in it, three of them are full size products and others are samples - but you get a generous amount of each sample. The price of this package is 17,35 € (if you order for more than 15 €, you get a free shipping). Till yesterday they had a special offer, the price was 14,99 €.

Subrina Spicy Orange shower gel
full size: 250 ml, price: 1,59 €
Till now I only tried Subrina hair products, so this will be interesting to try. It smells like orange and to me this scent is amazing (similar to Yves Rocher Cocoa&Orange, just that Subrina doesn't smell like cocoa).

Bomb Cosmetics Candy Box soap
full size: 100 g, price: 3,18 €
Bomb Cosmetics soaps are hand made and they contain essential oils. Candy Box should smell like orange and bergamot. I probably won't open this soap for a while, because some time ago I started to use Bomb Cosmetics soap Santa Baby and you know that these soaps last for a very long time. I'm going to review Santa Baby soon on my blog, but I can already tell you that I love it, it foams better than any other soap I tried, it cleans my hands nicely and the scent it leaves it's just amazing.

Alfaparf Reparative Shampoo for damaged hair
60 ml, price: 3,97 € (full size 250 ml, price: 10,31 €)
I admit I haven't heard for this brand before I ordered this box (shame on me), but Anna says that this is her favourite shampoo and I believe her that it's good. I personally love to try new shampoos and this one will come very handy, because since I'm working every evening till 10 p. m. I sometimes don't take care for my hair as I should (going to bed with wet hair is definitely not the best idea. The reasons why I wash my hair when I come from work and not always in the morning are different, so we want discuss this now).

Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stain LA Exclusive
full size, 10,89 €
The main reason why I ordered this box is a Revlon stain. I heard so many good things about these stains. I got the shade LA Exclusive, which is a gentle baby pink shade. It made a very good first impression which actually surprised me a bit since their lip butter was disappointing. The shade looks very gentle on the lips, so I think it would suit anyone, it's moisturizing and comfortable to wear. This products will definitely get a separate review in the future. After few more tryouts I'll let you know if it's worth the money or not.

Subrina Professional Hair Code First Touch
sample: 15 ml (full size: 150 ml, price: 5,29 €)
I'm not the biggest fan of hair sprays, because I rarely use them, so sample sizes are perfect for me. This one even has UV filter to protect hair from sun, so it will come handy in the summer, when I do try more hair styles, because I have long hair and it's too hot in the summer to have them down. Its scent isn't so bad, but a bit too strong to me. I don't know why all hairy sprays have to have such strong scents.

Moroccanoil Light
sample: 10 ml (25 ml costs 16,78 €, 100 ml costs 42,70 €)
I wasn't much of a fan of Moroccanoil, I didn't find it anything special according to the hype it's getting. The light version is designed for bright and for thin hair. My hair isn't bright, but it is thin, so I'm curious to try it and to see, if there's any difference with normal version.

L'erbolario samples
L'rerbolario samples came in such a cute flower designed packaging. I got five samples from different collections: Papavero Soave body cream, 3 Rosa body cream, Papavero Soave bubble bath, All'Olio di Argan hand cream, Viola perfume.

From my personal opinion and experience I can say I'm very satisfied with the content of this box. Shower gel, lip product, soap, hair oil, shampoo are products that I love to use and I often buy them myself. I know the content may not correspond to everyone, because not everyone has the same taste and likes the same products, but I definitely think it's worth the money. This box is definitely a great way how to test new products and even the box itself is high quality. I haven't decided yet what I'll keep in it, maybe palettes, because it's big and so is my palette collection.

Have you ordered your Chich Things for Smart Girls palette? How do you like the content? Thank you for reading!
